So, I've sorted out my list into stuff I really, really want and stuff I really want. I've written down my maximum bid on everything, and will start placing bids in the last 10 mins or so. If the auction is coming to an end, and someone makes a bid, there's a 5 minute waiting time to allow others to increase their bid, so in theory it could go on for quite some time! The skill is in juggling all the bidding info being sent live; knowing how much something's worth, is it better to bid on this or that, what do I need most etc, whilst at the same time holding your nerve and not getting carried away with the thrill of trying to win!
Just checked...54 mins...I need the toilet.
First sale a tall bottle fridge (it's beautiful - stainless steel with glass doors) and a tall freezer - for the garage. Once kitted out, Environmental Health will hopefully approve it for food storage, so there's no need to have a freezer on the van (using lots of energy). There's no under counter fridge in the auction, which I need for the van, but hopefully I can get these for a good price. If I can get the pallet of food grade tiles - 96 of them - I can line the garage walls, sell them or keep them for the next van! No other bidders but me, reserve met.
23 mins left...both fridge and freezer still sitting at crazy prices...when will people start bidding? Wonder if it'll be a frenzy at the end, like it is on Ebay sometimes. The van was an Ebay purchase. My brother found out he had been bidding against another guy, who really wanted it, but his internet connection went down at the last minute and bid number 23 that won was my brother's. Bit of a trek to get the van (farcical journey to Oxforshire and back - a whole blog in itself!) but I'm told she's gutsy!
Hannah's (11 month old) come in to join me. She's in at the cardboard backdrop I've made for the video I've to make for my crowdfunding application. Sugar, let me check the time...
16 mins...there's no way this fridge and freezer are going to go for what they're sitting at! I think I might put a bid on at maybe 8 mins, that's if no one else bids. That might encourage the competition to bid and then I can see how much interest there is. MY HEART IS POUNDING!
Right calm it...10 mins to go and no other bids...by the time I am able to type this sentence, which is quite a long time when...I'm going...
I've put 2 bids in. Reserve met on both. GULP...
It's 12:23pm...
One person bidding on the bottle fridge...BRING IT ON...
Time is dragging, lol, 7 and 9 mins left...the time is being extended to allow for more bidding...5 mins left on the freezer...4 mins... need to keep flicking back to check...under 2 mins for the freezer...there's no point in waiting till the wire cos the time gets extended by 5 mins...come one, come on...under ONE minute...
I've only gone and gotten the freezer, lol, and there's under 2 mins for the fridge...brb...under one minute...
Right well, that's me got the both of them - BARGAIN - result!!! I cannot believe that, lol, had no idea what the bidding would be like. Got some stuff coming up in another sale in a couple of hours, I'm away to eat!
